Technical Information
Inversa utilizes back-scattered radiation to create an image of internal defects within critical infrastructure. Backscatter Computed Tomography (BCT) technology has the unique ability to inspect infrastructure of almost any material, in detail, non-destructively, and with single-side access.
Conventional tomographic imaging and radiography is based on transmission radiation measurements that require access to opposing sides of the inspected object. One-side inspection is possible with ultrasonic reflection or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, both have limitations. Ultrasonic inspection methods are widely accepted in industry but require direct contact with the inspection surface preventing its use in applications such as insulated pipe and tanks. MRI technology has revolutionized diagnostic medical imaging, but its sensitivity to metal limits its practicality for industrial applications. Inversa's BCT technology overcomes both shortcomings providing a clear view without the need for disassembly.
